Frequently Asked Questions
Why must my work permit application be advertised?
Under the Immigration (Transition) Law (2021 Revision), employers are required to advertise work permit applications and variations of conditions in an approved publication, giving qualified Caymanians and persons with the right to be Caymanian the opportunity to apply before a permit is granted or varied.
What permit types require advertising?
Work Permit applications (new and renewal) and Variation of Conditions applications both require publication. The Cayman Gazette covers both.
How long must the notice be published?
Notices must allow a minimum of 14 days for responses. The Cayman Gazette publishes digitally upon payment confirmation and in the next available weekly print edition (published Fridays, booking deadline 10am Tuesday).
What proof do I receive for my WORC file?
Every notice includes a Certificate of Publication PDF, which can be submitted to WORC as evidence of compliance. It includes the notice reference number, publication date, certification statement, and Cayman Gazette masthead.
Can I get same-day publication?
Yes — our Expedited option publishes your notice digitally on the same business day for submissions received before 2:00pm AST, Monday to Friday. The notice also appears in the next print edition.
How do I submit a notice?
Register for a client account, complete the notice submission form, and pay by bank transfer or credit card. Your notice is published upon payment confirmation.
Is The Cayman Gazette an approved publication for WORC purposes?
Yes. The Cayman Gazette is published in both print and digital format and circulated throughout the Cayman Islands, meeting the publication requirements under the Immigration (Transition) Law (2021 Revision).
